SUCCESS OF 'AGNI PRIME' TEST IS A NEW MILESTONE

Balasore (Odisha): India's Agni Prime missile has been successfully tested off the coast of Odisha off Dr Abdul Kalam Island, boosting India's missile strike capability. Prime is the new generation in the Agni missile collection. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said the missile was a nuclear-capable missile.

The Prime, a surface-to-air ballistic missile, has a range of 1000 to 2000 km. The second accurate test took place at 11 a.m. Saturday. The first test was on June 28.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the scientists for their efforts in making the DRDO-led experiment a complete success. The Agni Prime is 50 percent lighter than the Agni-3 missile. Can be launched from road or rail.
