BIRTH RATES THROUGHOUT CHINA HAVE DROPPED DRAMATICALLY ALREADY
BEIJING:
Birth rates in China have dropped for the fifth year in a row. The National
Bureau of Statistics reports that the total population growth was only five
million at the end of last year. According to official figures, China's
population will reach 141.26 crore by the end of 2021. In 2020, it was 141.20.
That is an increase of only 4,80,000 per year. One crore births were reported
in 2021 and 1.2 crore births in 2020. Henan, one of the most populous
provinces, reported 9.2 million births in 2020.
23.3
percent less than in 2019. 9.24 births per thousand. Experts point out that
declining population will dampen China's dreams of an economic boom. They say
the declining number of workers and the increasing number of dependents will
push the country into financial liability.
