LIVE UPDATES ON THE ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS OF 2022: IMRAN MASOOD, THE CONGRESS LEADER, IS EXPECTED TO JOIN THE SAMAJWADI PARTY TOMORROW
LIVE
UPDATES FROM THE ASSEMBLY ELECTION: On Tuesday afternoon, Uttar Pradesh
Minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the state government and announced
his intention to join the Samajwadi Party. "Warm welcome and greetings to
the popular leader Shri Swami Prasad Maurya Ji, who fought for social justice
and equality, and all the other leaders, workers, and fans who came with him in
SP," party chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted.
"Wherever
the Bharatiya Janata Party loses elections, people are not decent,"
remarked Congress veteran Digvijay Singh, referring to the Bharatiya Janata
Party. Punjabis are separatists and Khalistanis, West Bengalis are infiltrators
and Rohingyas, and Delhiites demand handouts." Joginder Singh Ugrahan, the
leader of the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), announced his agricultural
organisation will not support the Balbir Singh Rajewal-led Sanyukt Samaj Morcha
in the Punjab assembly elections on February 14.
BKU
(Ekta Ugrahan) is one of Punjab's largest agricultural organisations, with
activists tented near the Tikri border during the farmers' protests against the
Centre's farm regulations.
In
the meantime, the model code of conduct has taken effect, and Covid
immunisation certificates issued in the five poll-bound states will no longer
include Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photograph. According to a source at the
Union Health Ministry, the requisite filters on the Co-WIN platform have been
implemented to remove Modi's photo from the vaccine certificate. Shortly after
the poll schedule was published on Saturday night, the filters were applied. In
election-bound states, the Election Commission of India has also prohibited all
political rallies, nukkad gatherings, and roadshows until January 15. The
Congress has postponed its rally in Moga, which was scheduled to be addressed
by AICC head Rahul Gandhi on January 15.
Residents
in Noida and Greater Noida can report election-related issues through email,
Whatsapp, or a phone call to the police department's dedicated number. A
complaint cell has been established at the police commissioner's election
office in Surajpur, Greater Noida, ahead of the elections. Residents can
contact the city via email at mailto:compgbnpol@gmail.com, or phone or text
