PRIYADARSHAN, THE DIRECTOR, WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER TESTING POSITIVE FOR COVID-19.
Following
a slew of celebrities, including some well-known Bollywood names, testing
positive for the coronavirus, film director Priyadarshan has now been confirmed
to be afflicted. According to sources, Priyadarshan was hospitalised to Apollo
Hospital in Chennai after testing positive with COVID-19. Although there is
little information on the director's status, reports indicate that he is now
stable and recovering.
Priyadarshan,
who directed some of Bollywood's most memorable films such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa,
Hera Pheri, Hungama, and others, has returned to the industry after an
eight-year absence. After the failure of his 2013 action-drama Rangrezz at the
box office, he took a pause before releasing the second instalment of the
Hungama franchise in 2021.
With
his career on the rise, the director recently released Marakkar: Lion of the
Arabian Sea, one of his most ambitious productions. Mohanlal, Sunil Shetty, and
Keerthy Suresh, among others, star in the 2021 action-drama film, which won a
national award. In March of last year, it won the National Award for Best
Feature Film at the 67th National Film Awards.
On
December 2, the film was released in theatres, and it was later made accessible
on Amazon Prime. Priyadarshan described the effort he took into creating
Marakkar in an interview with the Indian Express. He even stated that the
picture was ready to be released in just 102 days, but because to the continued
pandemic, he had to wait more than two years. He had added, "It was such a
relief when I watched it on the big screen."
