Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have chosen to divorce after 18 years of marriage. On January 17, the duo shared the news with their fans on their individual social media accounts, asking that everyone respect their decision. Soundarya, Aishwaryaa's sister, changed her Twitter display picture to a childhood photo of her father Rajinikanth and the two of them a few hours later. Rajinikanth has two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya. Their breakup has gone viral, leaving admirers heartbroken.

Dhanush announced the news on Twitter. Rajinikanth's eldest daughter, Aishwaryaa, is a Bollywood actress.Dhanush penned, "18 years as friends, as a couple, as parents, and as well-wishers to one another. Growth, comprehending, adjusting, and adapting have all been part of the experience. Today, we've reached a point when our paths diverge."

Dhanush also asked that everyone respect their decision and give them the privacy they require. "No caption needed," Aishwarya remarked on Instagram, referring to the comment. Only your love and understanding are required (sic)."

When Dhanush was 21 and Aishwarya was 23, they married. Yatra and Linga, their two sons, are their children.
