TERRORISTS WHO WERE ENGAGED IN THE KILLING OF A HEAD CONSTABLE WERE APPREHENDED BY J&K POLICE.

TRF terrorist Ikhlaq Hajam was engaged in the recent assassination of Hassanpora's chief constable Ali Muhammad Ganie.

Jammu and Kashmir police killed two terrorists from Lashkar-e-local Taiba's offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF) in an encounter in Srinagar's Zakura neighbourhood. Ikhlaq Hajam was one of the terrorists slain in the encounter, according to Kashmir's Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar.

In Hassanpora, Anantnag, Hajam was involved in the recent killing of head constable Ali Muhammad Ganie. Incriminating materials, including two pistols, were discovered from the scene, according to Kumar.

A 53-year-old Jammu and Kashmir police chief constable was slain last week when terrorists opened fire near his home in Anantnag's Hassanpora Bijbhera region at 5.35 p.m. Ganie was transported to Anantnag's Government Medical College, where doctors proclaimed him dead.

Ganie's assassination was condemned as "deplorable" and "cowardly" by politicians from all parties.

"Strongly condemn the assassination of a police officer in Bijbehara." "Its cruel, condemnable, and despicable deed demands police top brass to punish killers as soon as possible," said Altaf Thakur, a spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"Unequivocally condemn the dastardly attack on JKP Head Constable Ali Muhammad Ganie in Anantnag's Hassanpora area in which he lost his life," the J&K National Conference tweeted. We send our sympathies to his family, friends, and coworkers. May Allah provide him a Jannat position."

Following targeted attacks on civilians, notably those from minority populations, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have stepped up counter-terrorism operations in the valley. Last week, they killed top JeM commander Zahid Wani in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
