CORONAVIRUS OMICRON INDIA LIVE: KERALA'S TPR JUMPS TO 49.4 PERCENT WITH 55,475 NEW COVID CASES.
Kerala
reported 55,475 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with a test positivity rate of
49.9%. This is the first time the TPR has approached 50%, indicating that one
of every two people tested for Covid in Kerala has been diagnosed with the
virus. 70 deaths were connected, and 84 deaths were newly recognised as
Covid-19 deaths based on the updated regulations, bringing the total death toll
in the state to 52,141. For the past several days, Kerala has seen a
significant surge in new infections. In the state, there are 2,85,365 active
Covid cases.
Dr.
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, requested states and union
territories on Tuesday to increase testing in regions where it has decreased.
Mandaviya also ordered officials from these states and UTs to transmit Covid-19
testing and immunisation data in a timely manner, according to news agency ANI.
The health minister also advised the states that because a high number of
persons choose home isolation, they should be closely monitored in accordance
with national rules.
According
to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported
2,55,874 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, down from 3,06,064 the day
before. According to figures from the health ministry, 614 deaths raised
India's death toll to 4,90,462. Daily positivity is 15.52 percent, while weekly
positivity is 17.17 percent, both lower than Monday. With 614 deaths, India's
death toll now stands at 4,90,462. After 2,67,753 patients recovered from
Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has risen to
3,70,71,898, with a 93.15 percent recovery rate.
To combat the spread of Covid-19 in
Assam, the state government issued an order strengthening restrictions and
prohibiting non-vaccinated people from entering public locations, with the
exception of hospitals. It also instructed authorities to close schools for
pupils up to the eighth grade.
New
rules for dealing with Covid-19 in children
When visiting to public venues, the
government asked residents to bring proof of immunisation. These restrictions
will take effect on January 25 at 6 a.m.
Meanwhile,
as the number of Covid-19 cases in Kerala continues to climb, the state
administration has announced that educational institutions with less than 40%
attendance for three days in a row will be closed for two weeks.
