THE GOVERNMENT HAS RELEASED ITS ECONOMIC SURVEY, WHICH FORECASTS 9.2% GDP GROWTH IN FY22.
Nirmala
Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, presented the Economic Survey to
Parliament on Monday, along with the data Appendix. The Economic Survey has
offered information about the economy's current situation.
In
FY23, the Economic Survey predicts a growth rate of 8 to 8.5 percent in the
Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP growth is expected to be 9.2 percent in FY22.
In
most cases, the Economic Survey is written by a team led by the Chief Economic
Advisor (CEA). This year, however, a team lead by the Principal Economic
Adviser drafted the document.
The
government last week named economist V Anantha Nageswaran as the new CEA, just
days before the Budget 2022. Nageswaran is a former executive of Credit Suisse
Group AG and Julius Baer Group, as well as a scholar.
He
follows K V Subramanian, who stepped down from the position of CEA in December
2021 after serving a three-year tenure.
