NASA SATELLITES DISCOVER LOWER HUMAN CO2 EMISSIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME

Image
The COVID-19 pandemic is having an impact on human activities, such as energy use and CO2 emissions. For the first time during the Covid-19 outbreak, a team of NASA scientists identified regional changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) linked to human activities. According to reports, the scientists used a combination of NASA satellites and atmospheric models to assess CO2 emissions during the outbreak from space, including data from NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2). Previous research looked examined the effects of early pandemic lockdowns and found that global CO2 levels declined marginally in 2020. By combining OCO-2's high-resolution data with modelling and data analysis tools from NASA's Goddard Earth Observing System, the team was able to determine which monthly changes were due to human activities and which were due to natural causes on a regional scale (GEOS). According to the team's research, human-caused CO2 concentrations in the Northern Hemisp...

NEAR LADAKH, CHINA LAUNCHED A CYBER ATTACK ON THE POWER GRID. BETWEEN AUGUST AND MARCH

Image
New Delhi, India: According to a report released on Wednesday by private intelligence firm Recorded Future, Chinese state-sponsored hackers targeted Indian electricity distribution centres near Ladakh over the last eight months, posing a new potential flashpoint following a protracted military standoff between the two countries in the region. "In recent months, we've seen possible network breaches targeting at least seven Indian State Load Despatch Centres (SLDCs), which are responsible for real-time grid control and electricity dispatch inside their respective states." This targeting has been geographically concentrated, with the identified SLDCs located in North India, close to the disputed India-China border in Ladakh," according to the group. According to sources, the attacks occurred between August and March of last year. According to them, the study discovered data flowing in and out of Indian Load Despatch Centres to Chinese state-sponsored command and con...

GEOMAGNETIC STORM TO HIT EARTH TODAY, TOMORROW: CANYON OF FIRE ON SUN EXPLODES

Image
Earth is in the splash zone as the solar cycle progresses and the Sun spits out plasma into space's vacuum. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (Noaa) Space Weather Prediction Center has forecast a solar radiation storm for Wednesday and Thursday as the Sun spits filaments of plasma from a canyon that opened up on the surface on Sunday. In response to the expected arrival of the coronal mass ejection from the filament eruption located near S22W30 on the Sun, a US-based space observer issued an alarm for a mild geomagnetic storm. With proton levels reaching the S1 (Minor) threshold, a Solar Radiation Storm might erupt on Earth, according to the agency. The geomagnetic storm is expected to last until April 7, causing power grid irregularities, a modest influence on satellites in low Earth orbit, and the start of auroras at higher altitudes. Minor radio blackouts may be caused by the geomagnetic storm. Geomagnetic storms are large disturbances of Earth's magn...

CHINA REPORTS 20,000 COVID CASES PER DAY, THE HIGHEST NUMBER SINCE THE START OF THE PANDEMIC.

Image
China recorded over 20,000 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the biggest daily figure since the epidemic began, with Shanghai, despite being under lockdown, as the epicentre of the virus outbreak. As the number of cases rises, the country's "zero-Covid" plan is under severe strain. Until March, China had kept everyday instances to a minimum by enforcing localised lockdowns, mass testing, and severe international travel restrictions. In recent weeks, however, the caseload has swelled to thousands each day, with officials claiming to have discovered a mutation of the highly transmissible Omicron variety near Shanghai. The National Health Commission stated in a statement that China had reported 20,472 infections on Wednesday, with "no new deaths." Even during the peak of the initial outbreak, which was centred around Wuhan, authorities reported the country's highest-ever daily infection number. However, the vast majority of patients are asymptomatic. Despite this...

WHAT HAPPENED IN BUCHA, UKRAINE, AND WAS IT A CASE OF 'GENOCIDE'?

Image
In an address to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russian troops of committing "the most terrible war crimes" since World War II, as outrage and revulsion swept through Western capitals at what appeared to be incontrovertible evidence of grisly civilian massacres in Ukrainian areas vacated recently by Russian forces. Officials had counted the bodies of at least 410 people in towns around Kyiv until Tuesday afternoon, where Russian and Ukrainian forces fought from around February 27 to the beginning of April, when evidence of potential war crimes began to emerge as the invaders fled. Bucharest's massacres The most dreadful finds have been found in Bucha, a Kyiv neighbourhood about 25 kilometres northwest of the capital that had a population of around 36,000 people when the invasion began. More than 300 victims were discovered in the town Zelenskyy visited on Monday, some of them had their hands bound, flesh burned,...

A PLANET IS FORMING IN A UNIQUE WAY, ACCORDING TO HUBBLE

Image
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope recently captured a protoplanet in the process of developing, which was described as "intense and violent." The planet is growing in a protoplanetary disc around a young star that is about 2 million years old, with a unique spiral structure revolving around it. This planet was given the name AB Aurigae b by scientists. It has been estimated that it is nine times the mass of Jupiter. It travels an incredible 8.6 billion kilometres to orbit its host star. It would take a very long time at that distance. Scientists believe that disc instability is causing the planet to originate at such a great distance. And this goes against the generally recognised core accretion model's predictions for planet formation. Data from two Hubble sensors, the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph and the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrograph, were merged for the research. They compared the results to those from the SCExAO advanced planet imagi...

PROTESTS CONTINUE IN SRI LANKA AS THE RULING COALITION LOSES ITS PARLIAMENTARY MAJORITY

Sri Lanka's Crisis in Colombo: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's invitation to join the planned unity government was dismissed as a "sham" by Sri Lanka's opposition parties on Monday. The top ten updates on this major story are listed below. 1. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's ruling coalition in Sri Lanka lost its majority in parliament today after at least 41 legislators defected. 2. The opposition in Sri Lanka dismissed President Rajapaksa's invitation to join a unity government as "nonsense" and demanded his resignation in response to the country's mounting food, gasoline, and medicine shortages. 3. Deputy Parliament Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya resigned as the Parliament reconvened today for the first time since the country's state of emergency was proclaimed, as the country grapples with protests and rising demands for the President's resignation as the economy worsens. 4. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated on Tuesday th...
