REPORTS SAY A SOLAR STORM WILL HIT THE EARTH TODAY. NASA

Image
New Delhi, India: On March 28, a solar storm is predicted to impact Earth directly, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). A solar storm is a phenomenon in which electromagnetic eruptions from the sun's surface cause a significant number of particles to flow. According to NASA, there is a chance that a powerful solar storm will collide with the Earth's atmosphere in the United Kingdom. However, it's worth mentioning that NASA and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration disagree on the time of the solar storm's collision with the Earth. According to NASA, the collision with the Earth would occur at 6 a.m. on March 28; however, NOAA of America estimates that the catastrophe occurred 18 hours earlier. During the strike, a bright glow can be observed in some parts of the UK. The atmosphere will appear to glow when solar winds enter the Earth's magnetic field or atmosphere, which is known as Aurora Polaris. It's also...

IMRAN KHAN, PAKISTAN'S PM, SAYS HE WILL NOT RESIGN AHEAD OF THE NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE

Image
Islamabad: Imran Khan, Pakistan's prime minister, has stated he will not quit, despite calls from the opposition to do so ahead of a vote of no confidence in him, which will be his hardest test since taking power in 2018. Pakistan's parliament will meet on Friday to begin deliberations on the no-confidence resolution, which may take up to seven days to vote on whether Khan should be removed. The vote of no confidence has raised the potential of constitutional, administrative, and economic crises as the IMF prepares to give the next tranche of a $6 billion bailout package, which was supposed to happen this week but has yet to happen. The motion was presented by opposition parties earlier this month, claiming Khan had lost his legislative majority after 20 of his party's legislators left, and called for Khan to resign. "I will not resign, no matter what," Khan stated in a statement released late Wednesday night by his office. Khan stated that he would not su...

EATING LETTUCE ON A MARS TRIP MAY PROTECT ASTRONAUTS' BONES

Image
To stave off sickness linked with long spaceflights, astronauts may one day grow and eat genetically engineered plants. The University of California, Davis College of Engineering has produced a transgenic, or genetically engineered, lettuce that produces a medicine that protects against bone density loss in microgravity. Our bones maintain a continual balance of growth and resorption, allowing them to adjust to damage or changes in activity. Astronauts lose bone mass when they spend time in microgravity because this balance is disrupted, causing bones to resorb. A medicine called parathyroid hormone, or PTH, can be used to treat this, but it requires regular injections. PTH and a portion of a human antibody protein are fused together in the transgenic lettuce. According to Professor Somen Nandi of the UC Davis Department of Chemical Engineering, the fusion protein is designed to be stable in the bloodstream and to allow astronauts to purify the medication from plant extracts. T...

NASA DISCOVERS A NEW ASTEROID THE SIZE OF THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING, WHICH WILL MAKE ITS CLOSEST APPROACH ON MARCH 24

Image
Another potentially deadly asteroid is rushing towards Earth, according to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and will make its closest approach on March 24. The space rock called 2013 BO76 has a diameter of 450 metres and would pass our planet at a distance of 51,11,759 kilometres, making it bigger than the Empire State Building. Furthermore, the enormous asteroid would travel at a speed of 49,513 kilometres per hour, posing little threat to Earth due to the distance between them. The JPL even issued a map depicting the asteroid's orbit, which intersects with that of the Earth and even Mars. The asteroid's orbit is displayed in white in the image, while the orbits of Earth and Mars are represented in blue and red, respectively. In 2013, the asteroid 2013 BO76 passed closest to Earth, at a distance of 78,88,295 kilometres. The next approach will take place on July 14, 2033, at a distance of 1,91,85,926 kilometres, according to NASA's JPL. This is the first space ro...

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS WILL BE DRIVEN BY THE COMMON ENTRANCE TEST, NOT CLASS 12 GRADES

Image
New Delhi, India: From now on, college admissions will be based on a common entrance exam rather than Class 12 grades. According to University Grants Commission (UGC) chief Jagadesh Kumar, this will relieve the stress of absurdly high college cut-offs by as much as 100 percent. In this your 10-points: 1. The new Common University Education Test (CUET) will be administered in the first week of July, after the majority of Class 12 board exams have been finished. The application procedure will begin in the first week of April and will be conducted entirely online. 2. According to the UGC chairwoman, the exam would be a computer-based, multiple-choice test that will be simple in terms of technology. 3. Inventive+ phrasing "Students do not need to be computer savvy to participate. Almost every student nowadays has access to a smartphone. They can go to the testing centre and select an answer from the multiple-choice alternatives using the mouse "Mr Kumar stated. 4 "It is absu...

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army said that after a tough struggle, Russian troops were pushed out of Makariv, a strategically important Kyiv suburb. On Monday, the fight for Ukraine's important port of Mariupol raged as Ukraine refused a Russian offer to withdraw the besieged city's forces. The city, as well as other Ukrainian cities, continued to be bombarded by Russian artillery. About 400 civilians were taking cover at an art school in the Sea of Azov port city when it was hit by a Russian bomb, according to Zelenskyy. THE JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE CAPTURES 1000 DISTANT GALAXIES IN A SINGLE IMAGE

Image
After more than a month in its new home at the second Lagrange Point (L2), Nasa's James Webb Telescope has demonstrated why it was making headlines even before it was launched. The first photographs of a star that the world's most powerful observatory focused to synchronise its mirrors have been returned. The photobombing effect on star HD 84406 is simply out of this world, with thousands of distant ancient galaxies jammed into a single shot. The image is a test shot to show how the telescope's 18 hexagonal mirrors worked together to create a single coordinated image taken 1.6 million kilometres distant from Earth. PHOTOBOMB OF ANCIENT GALAXIES The glittering star appeared more red and spiky thanks to the design of Webb's mirrors and filters, but the background stole the show. Webb operations project scientist Jane Rigby stated, "You can't help but see those thousands of galaxies behind it, incredibly spectacular." Those galaxies have been around for billi...

VLADIMIR PUTIN IS UNANIMOUSLY CONDEMNED AS A WAR CRIMINAL BY THE US SENATE

Image
The US Senate unanimously passed a resolution condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin as a war criminal on Tuesday, a rare show of bipartisanship in the highly divided Congress. The resolution, introduced by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and backed by senators from both parties, urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague and other nations to focus any investigation of war crimes committed by the Russian military during Russia's invasion of Ukraine on the Russian military. In a speech on the Senate floor ahead of the vote, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, "All of us in this chamber stood together, with Democrats and Republicans, to say that Vladimir Putin cannot escape justice for the horrors done against the Ukrainian people." Russia's efforts are being described as a "special military operation" aimed at demilitarising and "denazifying" Ukraine. Putin has frequently referred to the country as a US ...

ASTRONOMERS DISCOVERED THE ASTEROID TWO HOURS BEFORE IT COLLIDED WITH THE EARTH. WHAT OCCURRED AFTER THAT?

Image
When Leonardo De Caprio's film Don't Look Up was released on Netflix, the entire globe watched as it warned us about the impending threats of asteroids and our tardy response to combat them. Last week, astronauts discovered an asteroid that had a slim possibility of colliding with Earth and crashing to the surface. Yes, an asteroid collided with Earth, and we knew about it only two hours before it hit. The one saving grace was that this extraterrestrial object was just 2 metres long, limiting the amount of damage it could cause. If it had been larger, with a breadth of at least a kilometre, the implications could have been deadly. Asteroid 2022 EB5 was too small to pose a threat to Earth, and it's only the fifth time humans have been able to detect an asteroid before it collided with the planet, which already has over 200 craters from earlier asteroid impacts spanning millions of years. Astronomers predicted the March 11 strike because they knew it was on a collision trajec...

Live updates from the Russia-Ukraine conflict: Ukraine sees potential for compromise; an official claims Russian troops have kidnapped 500 people.

Image
Russia Ukraine War Crisis Live: Ukraine said Tuesday that it sees potential for compromise in talks with Russia, but Russian soldiers increased their bombardment of Kyiv, and an estimated 20,000 residents escaped the encircled port city of Mariupol via a humanitarian corridor. During another assault on Mariupol late Tuesday, Russian troops captured a hospital and kidnapped roughly 500 people, according to regional commander Pavlo Kyrylenko. On the 20th day of Russia's invasion, fast-moving developments on the diplomatic front and on the ground occurred. Meanwhile, the White House stated that India's acceptance of Russia's discounted crude oil offer would not constitute a violation of US sanctions. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, on the other hand, advised reporters to "consider where you want to stand when history books are written at this point in time." India has expressed its opposition to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. New Delhi has repeatedly ur...

Image
The village of independence fighter Bhagat Singh was drenched in the colour "Basanti (yellow)" this morning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann's oath ceremony as Punjab Chief Minister. Yellow turbans, which have become synonymous with comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann, flooded the village of Khatkar Kalan in response to his request that residents wear "Basanti turbans and dupattas" to his swearing. The colour yellow was used throughout the venue and decor. Bhagat Singh was known for wearing red turbans, which came to symbolise revolution. In a video message inviting the people of Punjab to his swearing-in, Bhagwant Mann remarked, "We will colour Khatar Kalan in 'Basanti rang." Mr Mann, 48, will become the state's youngest Chief Minister since the 1970s. Mr Mann, whose AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal refers to as "his younger brother." In Punjab, the AAP secured a huge victory, taking 92 of the 117 seats in th...

STUDY OF METEORITES THAT FORMED THE EARTH IN THE OUTER SOLAR SYSTEM

Image
Tokyo: According to a study, the materials that formed the Earth may have originated quite far out in the early solar system and then been brought in during the solar system's turbulent early history. Carbonaceous meteorites, which are assumed to have come from outer main-belt asteroids, are supposed to have contributed to Earth's formation. According to a new study led by Tokyo Institute of Technology experts, these asteroidal materials may have formed far out in the early solar system and then been brought into the inner solar system by chaotic mixing processes. The findings, which were published in the journal AGU Advances, suggest that the surface minerals found on outer main-belt asteroids, particularly ammonia (NH3)-bearing clays, are formed from starting materials containing NH3 and CO2 ice that are only stable at very low temperatures and in water-rich environments. The study suggests that outer main-belt asteroids formed in distant orbits and differentiated to ...

CHINA'S COVID SURGE: "ZERO-COVID" APPROACH FAILS, LOCKDOWNS INCREASE, AND WORSE IS ALMOST CERTAIN

Image
Beijing: All 17 million residents of Shenzhen, China's innovation hub, were put on lockdown for the first time on Monday, as restrictions expanded throughout Shanghai and other major cities to tackle an outbreak that threatened the country's zero-tolerance Covid approach. The measure was put in place on Sunday in Shenzhen, China's southernmost city, to combat an Omicron outbreak in factories and neighbourhoods linked to Hong Kong, where the virus is wreaking havoc. Foxconn, a major Apple supplier, announced Monday that it has halted operations in Shenzhen as the industrial shutdown wreaked havoc on the city's economy. Shenzhen is one of ten cities in China to have ordered the evacuation of all citizens, while the policy was also implemented Monday in parts of other important cities such as Dalian, Nanjing, and Tianjin, which are all close to the capital. As concerns grow about China's "zero-Covid" strategy in the face of the highly transmissible Omicron fo...
