LOOK FOR THIS FIGHTER JET AFTER IT VANISHES OFF RADAR.

Image
Tokyo: Japan's military said Monday that it was looking for a fighter plane that vanished from radar after taking off. "After take-off, the trail of an F15 fighter vanished from the Komatsu control tower's data," a representative for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force told AFP. He stated that the plane vanished roughly five kilometres from the Komatsu airbase in the central Ishikawa region, off the coast of Japan. The plane was meant for up to two crew members, according to the official, but he could not confirm how many individuals were on board. Accidents involving Japan's air force have occurred on occasion, most recently in 2019 when an F-35A stealth fighter plane crashed into the sea after the pilot experienced spatial disorientation. The plane's crash spurred a race to find the pilot and the plane's secrets.

FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS MONTH, THE UAE DESTROYS A MISSILE LAUNCHED BY YEMEN'S HOUTHI REBELS.

Image
As Israel's president visited the country, the United Arab Emirates said it shot down a ballistic missile fired by Yemen's Houthi rebels, the third such occurrence this month. The UAE's defence ministry claimed there were no injuries in the early morning attack, which was part of a Saudi-led military coalition targeting Iran-backed rebels. According to the official WAM news agency, "Air defence forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi terrorist organisation at the UAE." It stated debris particles fell "outside of populous areas," but didn't elaborate. The missile launch point in Yemen's northern Al-Jawf region was destroyed as a result of the operation, according to the government. The black-and-white footage of the explosion and columns of black smoke was also released. The incident on Monday is the third since three oil employees were killed in a drone and missile attack on January 17. A week later...

THE GOVERNMENT HAS RELEASED ITS ECONOMIC SURVEY, WHICH FORECASTS 9.2% GDP GROWTH IN FY22.

Image
Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, presented the Economic Survey to Parliament on Monday, along with the data Appendix. The Economic Survey has offered information about the economy's current situation. In FY23, the Economic Survey predicts a growth rate of 8 to 8.5 percent in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP growth is expected to be 9.2 percent in FY22. In most cases, the Economic Survey is written by a team led by the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA). This year, however, a team lead by the Principal Economic Adviser drafted the document. The government last week named economist V Anantha Nageswaran as the new CEA, just days before the Budget 2022. Nageswaran is a former executive of Credit Suisse Group AG and Julius Baer Group, as well as a scholar. He follows K V Subramanian, who stepped down from the position of CEA in December 2021 after serving a three-year tenure.

'O MITRON' MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN OMICRON: SHASHI THAROOR

Image
Much more deadly than Omicron is 'O Mitron': Shashi Tharoor is an Indian politician. On Monday, January 31, senior Congress politician Shashi Tharoor appeared to make a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's favourite word "Mitron," which he uses in his speeches to the nation. 'O Mitron,' he claims, is far more deadly than Omicron. "'O Mitron' is far more deadly than #Omicron!" Increased polarisation, propagation of intolerance and bigotry, insidious assaults on the Constitution, and the erosion of our democracy are all results of the latter. "This virus has no "milder variant," he tweeted. Shehzaad Poonawalla, a BJP spokesperson, claimed it was an attempt to lighten the terrible Covid situation in the country. "Rahul Gandhi keeps harping on Covid," he told India Today, "but Congress actually makes light of the severe matter." Over the last several days, Shashi Tharoor has been making subtle digs at...

HATCH IS NOW CLOSED! FOUR HUMANS ARE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A 45-DAY JOURNEY TO MARS.

Image
Four individuals have embarked on a 45-day journey to Mars' moon Phobos. No, they are not going to Mars right now, but they are laying the groundwork for future missions. The four-person crew is participating in a research project that will replicate isolation and confinement in exploration scenarios in order to better understand the consequences of long-duration space travel on the human body. The four-person crew arrived at their new home, where they would conduct an exploration mission to Phobos, one of Mars' moons, for the next 45 days. The expedition began in a building known as the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA), which was built to serve as a testbed for future missions. Jared Broddrick, Pietro Di Tillio, Dragos Michael Popescu, and Patrick Ridgley are among the four crew members. The crew will conduct research experiments and deal with the isolation, confinement, and time delays that come with a long space journey throughout the 45-day voyage. WHAT IS...

NASA'S MARS ORBITER REVEALS THAT WATER FLOWED ON THE RED PLANET FOR LONGER THAN EXPECTED

Image
Washington: Water on Mars is thought to have evaporated roughly 3 billion years ago. However, two scientists reviewing data from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter discovered traces of liquid water on Mars as recently as 2 billion to 2.5 billion years ago, implying that water flowed there for a billion years longer than previously thought. The findings, which were published in the journal AGU Advances, focus on the chloride salt deposits left behind as freezing meltwater evaporated across the terrain. While the structure of some valley networks suggested that water may have flowed on Mars lately, the salt deposits are the first mineral evidence that liquid water existed. The discovery raises new questions about how long, if at all, microbial life could have thrived on Mars. Wherever there is water, there is life, at least on Earth. Ellen Leask, a post-doctoral researcher at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory, and Bethany Ehlmann, a professor at Cali...

A FAMILY OF INDIANS WHO DIED OF FROSTBITE ALONG THE US-CANADA BORDER HAS BEEN RECOGNISED.

Image
Authorities recognised the four members of an Indian family discovered dead near the US-Canada border a few days ago as residents of Dingucha village in Gandhinagar's Kalol tehsil, authorities announced on Friday morning. The family was apparently attempting to unlawfully enter the United States when they died on January 19 in Manitoba, Canada, near the US-Canada border. The four have been named as Jagdish Patel (39), his wife Vaishali Patel (37), their daughter Vihangi Patel (11), and their son Dharmik Patel, according to a statement made by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa (3). Jagdish, the family's head, had previously worked as a schoolteacher before switching to owning several companies in Kalol. Jagdish's father, Baldev Patel, has also left the hamlet, thus the family's one-story house in Dingucha is locked. According to police, the family arrived in Canada a fortnight ago on a visitor's VISA. The Indian Express reported on January 24 that a family...

KERALA GOVERNMENT SAYS THERE WOULD BE NO HIJAB IN STUDENT POLICE CADETS.

Image
The Kerala government said on Thursday that hijab and full sleeves cannot be worn as part of the uniform of the Student Police Cadets, an initiative involving high school students from various schools around the state. Initially, a class eight student filed a petition with the High Court, but it was redirected to the government. The administration has said unequivocally that religious insignia on uniforms are inappropriate. It would send the wrong message, and comparable requests from other such units, which should be secular in nature, would arise as a result. It's worth noting that NCC and Scouts and Guides have uniforms that have nothing to do with the kids' religious affiliations. The goal of the Student Police Project was to raise a generation that values nationalism above all other considerations. The state nodal officer of the Student Police Cadets was similarly opposed to permitting religious insignia, and issued a report dismissing the request and highlighting th...

'1 IN 3 DIE,' SAYS REPORT, AS WUHAN SCIENTISTS WARN OF A NEW CORONAVIRUS 'NEOCOV' WITH A HIGH DEATH AND INFECTION RATE.

Image
According to a report by the Russian news agency Sputnik, scientists from Wuhan, China, where the Covid-19 virus was initially found in 2019, have warned of a new strain of coronavirus known as 'NeoCov' in South Africa, which has a high death and transmission rate. The NeoCov virus, however, is not new, according to the paper. It was discovered in outbreaks in Middle Eastern countries between 2012 and 2015, and it is similar to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes coronavirus in humans. While NeoCoV was first detected in a bat population in South Africa and has only been known to spread among bats, a new unpeered study published as a preprint on the bioRxiv website has discovered that NeoCoV and its near sibling PDF-2180-CoV can also infect people. Only one mutation is required for the virus to penetrate human cells, according to researchers from Wuhan University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Biophysics. The novel coronavirus offers a threat, accor...

TERRORISTS ATTACK CHECKPOINT IN BALOCHISTAN PROVINCE, KILLING 10 PAKISTANI SOLDIERS.

Image
The army claimed on Thursday that ten Pakistani troops were killed when terrorists stormed a security checkpoint in the restive southern Balochistan province's Kech area. Terrorists carried out a "fire raid" on the night of January 25-26, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing. Ten soldiers were killed in a fierce exchange of fire, according to the report, which also stated that one terrorist was killed and several others were injured in the event. According to the report, three terrorists were caught during the follow-up clearance operation. "Armed forces are committed to removing terrorists from our soil at any cost," the statement continued. So far, there has been no claim of responsibility for the incident. A long-running violent insurgency exists in Balochistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan. Baloch militant groups have already carried out attacks in the region aimed at the China-Pakistan Econ...

UNDER MARS' SOUTH POLE, THERE IS VOLCANIC ROCK, NOT LIQUID WATER, ACCORDING TO A NEW STUDY.

Image
The Mars Express mission of the European Space Agency discovered some brilliant radar reflections at Mars' ice-covered south pole in 2018. Scientists assumed they were staring at liquid water around 1.4 kilometres beneath the ice. However, according to a recent study, the reflections could be created by volcanic rock buried beneath the ice. "You need both a very salty environment and a strong, locally generated heat source for water to be sustained thus close to the surface," said the study's lead author, Cyril Grima, a planetary scientist at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, in a press statement. The findings were published in Geophysical Research Letters, a magazine dedicated to geophysical research. The researchers used data from the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS), a multi-frequency radar sounder on board the Mars Express spacecraft that has provided nearly 15 years of measurements and is still operational to...

A SPACEX ROCKET IS READY TO COLLIDE WITH THE MOON, SEVEN YEARS AFTER IT WAS LAUNCHED.

Image
In a nutshell, scientists predict that one of Elon Musk's SpaceX rockets sent into space over seven years ago will crash into the moon at the beginning of March. Although this may not appear to be a good thing, the impact could provide vital scientific information. SpaceX launched its first interplanetary mission from Florida in February 2015, transporting a weather satellite more than one million miles from Earth. The Falcon 9 rocket did not have enough fuel to reenter to Earth's atmosphere and burn up after its extended burn to achieve a transfer orbit. On Ars Technica, meteorologist Eric Berger said that it "lacked the energy to escape the gravity of the Earth-Moon system," leaving it in a "chaotic orbit." According to space experts, the Falcon 9's second stage, which weighs about four tonnes, will collide with the moon in a few weeks at a speed of about 2.58 km/s (5,700 mph). The far side of the moon, near the equator, will be impacted on March 4...

STUDY SAYS OMICRON LIVES ON SKIN FOR NEARLY A DAY AND ON PLASTIC FOR OVER A WEEK.

Image
According to a study, the Omicron variety of coronavirus may survive on skin for more than 21 hours and for more than eight days on plastic surfaces, which may contribute to its faster spread than other strains. The differences in viral environmental stability between the SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan strain and all variants of concern were investigated by researchers from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan (VOCs). The Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Omicron variations had more than two-fold longer survival on plastic and skin surfaces than the Wuhan strain, according to the study, which was just published on the preprint repository BioRxiv. According to the study's authors, "the high environmental stability of these VOCs could raise the likelihood of contact transmission and contribute to their spread." "This analysis found that Omicron has the highest environmental stability among VOCs, which could be one of the reasons for the variant's rapid expansion and r...

PAKISTAN'S SUPREME COURT HAS APPOINTED ITS FIRST FEMALE JUDGE.

Image
Pakistan's first female Supreme Court judge was appointed on Monday, following an exceptionally difficult nomination procedure. A commission that decides on the advancement of judges nominated Justice Ayesha Malik, 55. She was sworn in on live television, as is customary for Supreme Court judges, with Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad administering the oath. In a tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Justice Ayesha Malik on becoming the Supreme Court's first female justice. "She is in my thoughts and prayers." Her elevation was initially denied by the nine-member body that confirmed her appointment last year, before voting 5-4 to approve her this year. Some legal organisations criticised her appointment, claiming that she was chosen despite not being among the top three most senior justices on the lower court from which she was elevated. They have demanded that judges be promoted based on objective standards.

SAUDI ARABIA REPORTS TWO PEOPLE INJURED BY A FALLING MISSILE AFTER THE UAE INTERCEPTS A HOUTHI ATTACK

Image
The protest on Monday was the UAE's second since a strike on a gasoline storage in Abu Dhabi last week, which killed three people and caused a fire near the country's international airport. Following a tragic strike a week ago, the UAE's defence ministry said it intercepted and destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles aimed at the Gulf country on Monday, with no casualties. The Houthis have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition, which includes the UAE, for more than six years, conducting cross-border missile and drone assaults on Saudi Arabia and an unprecedented attack on the UAE on January 17. "Remains of the intercepted ballistic missiles fell in different areas around Abu Dhabi," the ministry said, adding that it was taking all necessary precautions against any attacks. Newspaper in the United Arab Emirates Residents reported seeing sparkles in the sky over the capital at 4.30 a.m., according to the National. The protest on Monday was the UAE's second since a...

In the midst of a deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, a Taliban team led by acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi began three days of negotiations in Oslo with Western government officials and Afghan civil society groups on Sunday. The closed-door meetings are taking place in a hotel in the Norwegian capital's snow-capped mountains. Taliban representatives will meet with women's rights activists and human rights defenders from Afghanistan and the Afghan diaspora on the first day. Before the talks, the Taliban's deputy minister of culture and information tweeted a voice message he said was from Muttaqi, wishing for "a successful trip" and thanking Norway, which he believes would become "a portal for a positive connection with Europe." The trip marks the first time that Taliban representatives have met in Europe since the group took control of the nation in August. They had already visited Russia, Iran, Qatar, Pakistan, China, and T...
